FIELD: production of radiation shielding materials. SUBSTANCE: method includes mixing up milled glass, liquid glass, and filler followed by mechanical activation of mixture; for the process milled glass whose fineness is 40-50 mcm is used as inorganic binder and finely dispersed iron-containing hematite concentrate with particle size of 40-50 mcm, as filler. Then material is wetted with mixture of water and liquid glass having silica ratio of 1.7-2.1, subjected to semidry molding at specific pressure of 300-400 kg/sq. cm, heat treatment at 800-850 C for 50-60 min, and annealing for 7-8 h. EFFECT: improved physical and chemical characteristics, enhanced reliability of radiation shielding, stability, and service life of material.
