FIELD: radiation shielding materials. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging binder and filler in mixer and stirring these components. Portland cement is used as binder and finely dispersed iron-containing hematite concentrate whose grain size is 40-5- mcm, as filler. Then plasticizer and water are added to mixture obtained, all components are mixed up to homogeneous state and placed in molds for hardening; steel fibers are used as reinforcing base, their length-to- diameter ratio being 20-30. Material obtained is distinguished by improved physical and mechanical characteristics. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of radiation shield; increased stability and service life of material.
