FIELD: production of polished sheet glass; production of glass in lines employing the floatmethod. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes delivery of mixture of inert gas (nitrogen, for example) and reducing gases of carbon and hydrogen oxides into zones at tin temperature below 750 C; when temperature is above 750 C, mixture of inert gas with hydrogen is fed. Amount of carbon oxide as reducing component of protective atmosphere shall be between 0.01 and 12% by volume.
