FIELD: mining; applicable in deep excavation by walking excavators of barren rocks of placer and bedded deposits. SUBSTANCE: method includes rock excavation from pit by excavator in front and side faces and storage of rocks into flat dump with excavator traveling along face. Rocks from pit are excavated in two stages. First, upper layer of rock is excavated with excavator moving along face toward formed dump. Then, in backward moving of excavator over the same path, lower layer of rock is excavated. Then rock is excavated from the next face with excavator traveling over path parallel to previous one. EFFECT: higher productivity of excavation and reduced cost of stripping operations. 3 dwg
