FIELD: construction engineering; inspection of gas pipe lines. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in conducting electrometric inspection of gas pipe line and comparing gradients of protective potential at high and low levels of ground water. Sections liable to corrosive cracking under stress are identified by difference in gradients of protective potentials at high and low levels of ground water. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of pipe line.
