FIELD: electric insulators. SUBSTANCE: electric periclase powder employed as insulators in manufacture of tubular electric heating elements is prepared from naturally occurring magnesite, which is fired at 1600-1800 C by burning natural gas with stoichiometric amount of air on rotary kiln, cooled to 500-600 C at a rate of 200-400 C/min without oxygen (oxidant) access, and fractions 0.5-0.05 mm are isolated. EFFECT: reduced economical efficiency of process due to use of inexpensive naturally occurring starting material and reduced labor- intensiveness of process.
