FIELD: mineral materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to charge used for production of granulated chamotte as a wedging agent from mineral raw with the formula ratio Al2O3/SiO2 = 0.42-0.48. Charge comprises natural kaolinite and talc crystal hydrates in the following ratio of components, wt. -%: kaolinite crystal hydrate, 88-97; talc crystal hydrate, the balance. Charge comprises powder fraction of size less 4 mm that consists of spherical granules, powder of small-dispersed fraction of size 0.5-20.0 mcm in the following ratio of indicated fractions, wt.-%: fraction of size less 4 mm, 60-90; small-dispersed fraction of size 0.5-20.0, 10-40. Method of producing granulated chamotte involves granulation of kaolinite and talc crystal hydrates as powder- like materials of the parent charge taken in the above indicated ratio, drying obtained granules and their separation for isolation of end fractions that are calcined. Before granulation indicated components taken in the required mass ratio is dosed, mixed and obtained mixture is wetted.
