FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves using different cooling procedures within different temperature ranges during quenching and novel tempering procedures. Novel cooling procedure comprising quenching and tempering provides for minimal deformation, lower transverse bending strength anisotropy, increased hardness, abrasion resistance and prolonged service life.
