SUBSTANCE: device has illumination source and impermeable reflecting layer on the surface receiving light issued by the illumination source and having impermeable reflecting layer integrity violation zones matching the image transmitted to an observer. The said zones are covered with light-scattering layer. The reflecting layer covers the plate side turned to the observer. This layer configuration corresponds as a whole to the configuration assigned to the integrity violation zones of the impermeable reflecting layer. Versions of character plate design are disclosed.
