FIELD: ion-exchange materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacturing ion-exchange fibers based on polyacrylonitrile and acrylonitrile copolymers for application in processes wherein Hg and Cr ions are recovered from industrial waste waters with complex salt composition. Fiber is manufactured by treating (co)polyacrylonitrile fibers for 85-95 min with 8-13% solution of polyethylenepolyimine and 0.2-0.3% solution of sodium hydroxide in glycols at 150-160 C, while simultaneously performing fixation of fibrous braid. EFFECT: increased sorption capacity with regard to Hg(+) and Cr(+) ions and increased strength characteristics. 1 tbl, 14 ex
