FIELD: display systems for color cathode-ray tubes and miscellaneous color displays. SUBSTANCE: proposed process relates to manufacture of black matrix based on metal-insulation coating produced by thermal vacuum evaporation of mixture containing SiO and at least one of metals of Fe, Ni, Co, V, W, Ti, Mo, and Ta series or mixture of a few of them. Metal-insulation black coatings are noted for good mechanical properties and their surface resistance can be varied by varying quantitative proportion of source mixture components. Black metal-insulation coating may be evaporated by means of standard vacuum equipment and holes for phosphor items (pixels) are formed by photolithographic methods using standard organic photoresists.
