FIELD: ophthalmology. SUBSTANCE: in lacrimal fluid, summary activity of superoxide dismutase and relative concentration of diene conjugates are determined and prognostic coefficient (PC) is calculated by dividing the first index by the second: PC = (summary activity of superoxide dismutase)/(relative concentration of diene conjugates). When PC value is below 18.0, complicated clinical course of disease is predicted and, when PC id higher than 18.0, clinical course of disease is regarded as favorable.
