FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be applied for the detection of vitreoretinal tractions in case of peripheral retinal degeneration by means of optical coherent tomography. For this purpose the width of a peripheral part of the normal retina in the area in front of a defect and the width of the retina in the defect area are measured. Then the coefficient C is calculated by a special mathematical formula. If values C are lower than 0.88, the presence of vitreoretinal tractions is determined.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to reliably diagnose the presence of vitreoretinal tractions at early stages of development, which in its turn, makes it possible to timely prescribe adequate treatment.
