FIELD: solid solutions. SUBSTANCE: solid solutions of hydroxide and oxide of magnesium and a metal, in particular zinc, has octahedral crystal form. Octahedron contains upper and lower parallel basal planes and six peripheral pyramidal planes. The latter are alternatively disposed upward-inclined planes and downward-inclined ones. Ratio of main-axis basal plane diameter to distance between upper and lower basal planes (diameter-to-thickness ratio in main axis direction) varies between 1 and 9. To obtain solid hydroxide solution, metal oxides' complex is vigorously stirred in aqueous medium with carboxylic or mineral acid or with their salts. Concentration of acids or salts ranges from 0.1 to 6 mol % calculated for metal oxides' complex. Resulting metal hydroxide solution is combusted at temperature at least 400 C to give solid oxide solution. EFFECT: optimized preparation procedure. 14 cl, 17 dwg
