FIELD: force measuring equipment. SUBSTANCE: method can be used to measure torque transmitted by rotating shafts of various objects. Two signals phase- shifted one relative another are picked off in step with the aid of frequency pickups spaced apart over length of measurement section of shaft. These signals are converted into two frequency-modulated signals before extraction of their difference beat frequency and torque is found by formula Mtor = KΔϕ•Ksh•Fb, where Fb is beat frequency, Hz; KΔϕ is frequency coefficient of shaft twisting found by formula where Fd is frequency deviation, Hz; Ksh is reference coefficient of given type of shaft defined as where G is shear modulus of material of shaft, N/m2; jp is polar moment of inertia of section of shaft, m4; L is length of measurement section of shaft, m.
