FIELD: aviation technology, means of multimedia computer technology. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to way of functioning and structural implementation of tracking systems establishing position and orientation of mobile object with use of magnetic field. Procedure includes formation in working zone of magnetic field, constant and asymmetrical with reference to selected axes of coordinates within limits of working zone, obtainment of reference values of its components by way of preliminary magnetic chart-making of working zone, recording of present components of magnetic field by mobile receiver, determination of value of the Earth's magnetic field and computation of coordinates of mobile object. Simultaneous recording of present components of magnetic field is carried out with the use of at least six single-component transducers forming mobile receiver and located on object. There are proposed versions taking into account specifics of various objects. EFFECT: increased accuracy and reliability of establishing position and orientation of mobile objects in closed space limited by current-conducting and magnetic materials. 5 cl, 3 dwg
