FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: non-uniform asymmetrical permanent magnetic field is generated in the area of motion of object. Gradients of field are calculated. At least six differential single-component sensors having tight connection with object are placed in mention area. Mutual doubling is excluded. Co-ordinates of sensors are determined in object's co-ordinates. While object moves the differential sensors measure current values of magnetic field gradients. Then set of at least six algebraic including co-ordinates of sensors by means of equating measured values of gradients to calculated gradients of magnetic field. Equations set should be solved to get three linear and angular co-ordinates of object. Follow-up system has magnetic field source, at least six single-component differential magnetic field sensors connected tightly with object, unit for receiving sensors signals and transmitting these signals to units for data processing, computation unit.
EFFECT: improved precision.
