FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes measuring magnetic field around structure that makes magnetic field source. It comprises also defining deviation of measured magnetic field at preset points from designed ("ideal") field. Note here that at least one equation is set up to relate measure magnetic field with hypothetical magnetic field of magnetic system with at least one or several defects expressed in the form of dependence on one or several parameters describing said defects. Thereafter, formulated equations are solved to receive parameters describing said defects. Proposed device comprises at least one magnetic field component transducer and data processor to use readings of said transducer for fault detection.

EFFECT: fast fault detection.
