FIELD: mining industry; applicable in underground mining of thick ore deposits with mass caving of overlying rocks. SUBSTANCE: method includes formation of vertical compensation rooms with breakage of ore mass onto compensation space and clamping medium. Compensation rooms are made benched by blasting ends of downcast parallel holes from bottom upwards, with height of each bench being equal to length of charge in holes and determined by said mathematical expression. Benches in room are located symmetrical to room axis and leading them in block lower part. EFFECT: improved ore recovery due to excluded its overcompaction and provided safety of work in the course of block preparation for mass caving due to preservation of stability of caved rock mass in upper part of mined block. 3 dwg
