FIELD: method of control of velocity of reactive gas and atomizing air for powder-like material in supplying reactive gas and finely-ground particles of said material to reaction shaft of surface in suspended state for forming controllable and adjustable suspension. SUBSTANCE: reactive gas is fed to furnace around flow of said material in such way that particles of material are distributed by dispersing air at orientation in direction of reactive gas. Rate of flow of reactive gas and direction of its delivery to reaction shaft are adjusted continuously by means of control member of definite shape which is vertically movable in reactive gas passage and by means of cooling unit of definite shape surrounding this passage; it is mounted on arch of reaction shaft. Rate of flow of reactive gas is regulated to required level irrespective of required amount of gas in outlet hole found in lower butt of reaction shaft arch from which reactive gas escapes to shaft forming suspension with said powder-like material; delivery of atomizing air is adjusted in accordance with delivery of said material. Realization of this method is effected by means of modified burner. Provision is made for control of difference in rates of flow of concentrate and reactive gas and direction of reactive gas meeting with flow of concentrate.
