FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves conjugating luciferase with chemical particle like antibody in particular by mixing luciferase with one or several ingredients like D-luciferin, magnesium ions and adenosine triphosphate (a) and carrying out covalent binding reaction between luciferase and binding reagent using covalent binding agent where D-luciferin, magnesium ions and/or adenosine triphosphate are available in quantities enough for protecting luciferase activity from inhibiting by the covalent binding agent. Stage (a) is carried out by mixing luciferase with its substrates. It is preferential for magnesium and adenosine triphosphate to be available as complex of adenosine triphosphate with magnesium (Mg2+-ATP) where D-luciferin is not obligatory ingredient. The second aspect of the invention is concerned with luciferase-labeled antibody being an antibody conjugated with active firefly luciferase according to method disclosed in the present invention.
