FIELD: railway transport; measurement facilities. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-contact measurements of special deflections of rails in one or several planes from straight line and also twist of rails and difference in rail height. Proposed device contains mechanical part for fastening pickups, mechanisms for moving the rail through check zone, impulse track pickups at inlet and outlet of measuring set, operating unit, radio frequency pickups for non-contact measurements of distance to rail surface and markers for automatically grading of products. Operating unit provides automatic constant monitoring of parameters of radio frequency pickups to bring to minimum errors in measurements. Linearity, twist and height difference in moving rail is calculated analytically depending on valve of current clearances between fixed radio frequency pickups and surfaces of rail under checking. Invention. Invention makes it possible to check twist and height difference in rails over their length at translational displacement over roll bed at speed up to 3 m/s in dust-laden and gas-contaminated atmosphere in zone of checking and contamination of rail surfaces with scale and oil after heat treatment.
