FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, namely production of aluminum and alumina, possibly recovery of waste carbon lining of aluminum cells. SUBSTANCE: method is designed for processing waste carbon lining containing, mainly carbon impregnated with fluorine-containing compounds of aluminum and sodium. Method comprises steps of introducing disintegrated carbon lining as component in quantity 3-18 mas.% into alumina - sodium carbonate - lime containing charge (pulp) of alumina production; dozing lime into charge for formation of CaF2•3CaO•2SiO2, CaF2, 2CaO•SiO2; dozing alkali into pulp according to condition providing molecular relation Al2O3+Fe2O3/Na2O+K2O = 0,9-1,1.; sintering charge; subjecting produced sintered material to hydrochemical treatment according to well known processes of alumina production in order to recover aluminum oxides and alkali metals in the form of alumina, sodium and potassium carbonates. Solid block of slime remained after hydrochemical treatment is used for producing cement, silicate bricks or road building depending upon its content. EFFECT: possibility of complex processing of waste carbon lining. 3 cl, 1 tbl
