FIELD: television engineering. SUBSTANCE: entire illumination range is instrumentally divided into several parallel conversion channels; self-descriptiveness of various sections of entire luminance and/or illumination range of object and light- signal conversion transconductance of separate channels are varied. Each light-signal converter has illumination range shifting device. Total dynamic range of all channels of conversion chain equals luminance and/or illumination range of object so that natural illumination range can be recovered with desired quantity of luminance gradations. EFFECT: facilitated monitoring of objects having too large illumination range. 1 dwg
