METHOD FOR EFFECTING BREATHING EXERCISES FOR PROPHYLAXIS AND TREATMENT OF UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACTS Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves shallow breathing and exhalation in alternation with pause and simultaneously doing exercises. Exercises are done while user is seating at the table, with each shallow inhalation time being constant. Exhalation is initially effected through nose during inclination toward table with following exhaling through mouth during squeezing at gradual increase of its duration while providing verbal counting up, and simultaneously anus is sequentially compressed and abdomen is retracted. During pause head is inclined to the right, to the left, backward, forward, with mouth being closed, tongue being pressed to palate, elbows being bent and wrists touching shoulders. During performing of final exercise, air is actively and abruptly inhaled through nose, head is straightened and hands are stretched upward and clapped above head. Method allows remission to be reached at short time during upper respiratory tracts disease, and may be also used by healthy people working under conditions risky for lungs (mining enterprises etc) for disease prophylaxis.
