FIELD: heat and power engineering, namely apparatuses for trapping water in cooling towers of return water supply systems of power and industrial plants. SUBSTANCE: water trap unit of cooling tower includes grate of vertically arranged plates with U-shaped profile provided with vertical rectilinear inlet and outlet portions; spacing members arranged between plates in their central parts. Unit is provided with additional rows of members arranged between inlet and outlet portions of plates. Said members are in the form of cellular-structure insert. Each plate has width consisting 1.3 - 4.0 of its height. Length of unit is no more than 2000 mm. Plates have vertical corrugations. Members of central and lower rows are detachable ones. Plates, rods and spacing members are made of plastics. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency, lowered aerodynamic resistance, increased constructional rigidity of water trap. 4 cl, 2 dwg
