FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes crushing and cleaning of chips, preparation of briquettes and placing them in steel capsule. Said capsule is heated, press attachments are loaded in die and are deformed by impact action to relative density of no less than 0.95. Press attachments is hated to temperature of no less than 0.2 of capsule heating temperature. Deformation force is applied over entire lower or upper end faces of capsule and over surface whose diameter is lesser than diameter of capsule by magnitude of two thicknesses of its ferrule on opposite end face. Device for said method embodiment has base, container with die inside it, press plunger, main and autonomous press washers; diameter and height of working part of main or autonomous press washer are lesser than internal diameter of die and greater than degree of axial deformation of capsule.
