FIELD: nuclear engineering; control and protection systems of liquid-metal cooled fast reactors. SUBSTANCE: fast reactor absorbing element 1 has neutron absorbing material in the form of, say, slugs 2 disposed in can 3. Butt- ends of can 3 are plugged with top and bottom end parts 4 and 5 that have seats for their mounting in can 3. Element 1 also has means for discharging gas from gas collector 6 of can 3. Gas discharge means has annular clearance 7 between can 3 and seat for top end part 4 and two intersecting holes 8 and 9 provided in top end part 4. Hole diameter is between 2.87 and 3.62 mm. Hole 8 is blind and is made over longitudinal axis of element 1 on open end of top end part 4. Hole 9 is through hole communicating with annular clearance 7. Length L of annular clearance 7 is between 4.73 and 5.67 mm, its width δ is 0.038L to 0.132L. Wire coil 10 is wound on outer surface of can to provide clearance between the latter and element 1, ends of wire coil being welded to can 3. EFFECT: reduced contamination of coolant, impossibility of destroying neutron absorbing material by fast coolant flow. 3 cl, 2 dwg
