FIELD: nuclear engineering; control and protection elements of fast reactors using liquid metal coolants.
SUBSTANCE: control element has sections hinged together and designed for hydraulic communication of their inner spaces with surrounding atmosphere. Each hinged joint is made in the form of two bushes installed at butt-ends of adjacent sections; outer collar is provided on end of one bush and mating inner collar, on end of other collar that encloses outer collar. Mating surfaces of collars are disposed at acute angle to butt-end surfaces of collars. Desired reliability of hinged joint is attained by reducing fouling and overheating of absorbing element.
EFFECT: reduced pressure drop in coolant flow path through control element; enhanced reliability of hinged joint.
