FIELD: nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: rod has shell filled with neutron absorber pile. One part of pile is made of material entering in reaction with neutrons ((n,α)), such as boron carbide. Other part of pile which is first to be drawn out to reactor core includes hafnium. This part is stiff longitudinal structure, for example, metal hafnium rod, mounted in shell for axial displacement. EFFECT: improved strength of control rod due to reduced concentration of stresses over shell length; reduced total strain of rod. 7 cl, 2 dwg
