FIELD: skin-processing industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves softening fish skin in two stages: first stage comprising softening before liming with the use of preparations of pectolytic and cellulolytic action taken in amounts making 0.2% by weight of skin for each preparation at total liquid coefficient of 1.0, temperature of 29 plus and minus 1 C in drum in rotation-standstill mode for 5 min and 15 min, respectively, during 40-60 min; second stage comprising processing with the same repeatedly used preparations of pectolytic and cellulolytic action after liming before pickling-tanning, with said preparations being used in an amount of 0.2% by weight of depilated hide; adding alkaline protease in an amount of 0.4% by weight of depilated hide at total liquid coefficient of 0.1 in rotation-standstill mode of 5 min and 15 min, respectively, during 60-90 min.
