FIELD: stereoscopic video engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed method and device can be used to produce three-dimensional image from any source of composite or component video signal (video tape recorder, video camera, video game) by means of standard video displays of both television type (of any system such as PAL, SECAM, NTSC) and computer monitors (of any standard such as VGA, SVGA, XGA, etc.). To this end video signal sync pulse delay is employed both in even- and odd-numbered fields for implementing artificial parallax whose value monotonously varies along direction of frame sweep of image. In this way close-up and medium shots of both dynamic and static scenes can be perceived and provision is made for output of objects being viewed in front of screen. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of three-dimensional quasi-stereo image being viewed. 5 cl, 6 dwg
