FIELD: stereoscopic video equipment engineering, namely, matrix-addressed stereoscopic displays, possible use for creating stereoscopic displays both of direct observation (desktop and mobile) type and of projection type.
SUBSTANCE: device includes matrix-addressed optical modulator, containing M columns and N rows, and polarization commutator adjacent thereto, containing N rows, optically combined with matching rows of matrix-addressed modulator. Time of relaxation of working substances of matrix-addressed modulator and polarization commutator are selected to be less than frame scan time of N image rows. Improved precision of reproduction of stereoscopic image with reduced dimensions of the display is ensured by unchangeable geometry of pixels and planar structure of matrix-addressed and row-addressed optical modulator and polarization commutator in comparison with analog scanning type and volumetric structure of cathode-ray tube.
EFFECT: improved precision of reproduction of stereoscopic image with decreased dimensions of display.
