DEAD-BOTTOM IMMERSIBLE NOZZLE Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, possibly casting small cross section billets such as strips in two-roll continuous casting machine. SUBSTANCE: immersible nozzle has outlet openings in the form of diffusers with one tapered wall. Outlet openings are arranged along perimeter of nozzle in fan-like manner. Axes of diffusers are inclined relative to lengthwise axis of nozzle along casting direction by 40 - 120 degrees. Relation of inclination angles of two adjacent diffusers is in range 1 - 4; relation of inclination angles of their tapered lateral walls is in range 1 - 5. When metal is fed into crystallizer tangential components of flow speeds occur; their combination provides stable and uniform rotation of metal in crystallizer. EFFECT: lowered contamination of billets with non-metallic inclusions, enhanced quality of billet surface. 5 dwg
