FIELD: processes and equipment for continuous steel casting, namely casting large-size slab and bloom billets.
SUBSTANCE: process comprises steps of feeding steel from steel casting ladle into intermediate ladle from which steel is fed through submersible casting nozzle into mold. Melt metal is fed at ferrostatic pressure acting upon bottom of metal conduit determined by height of metal column in range 750 - 1750 mm. Upper cut of outlet ducts of casting nozzle is placed at level that is by 100 - 200 mm lower than metal level in mold. Metal flows emitted from metal conduit are guided along line being tangent to guiding surface of metal conduit relative to horizontal axis of outlet ducts of nozzle. Inlet duct of metal conduit is cone or stepped one. Relations of cross section areas of lower part of metal conduit, upper part of metal conduit, total cross section area at inlet and at outlet of ducts are in range: 1 : (1.07 -1.3) : (1.5 -2.0) : (2.5 - 4.5).
EFFECT: removal of non-metallic inclusions and gas bubbles out of steel.
