FIELD: radar and radio navigation engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves simultaneous radiation of respective orthogonally polarized structurally orthogonal radio signals at single carrier frequency at the same time receiving all orthogonally polarized components of radio signals reflected from object; output radio signals of each respectively polarized receiver channel are supplied to filters, each of the latter being matched with one of radiated structurally orthogonal radio signals, parameters of output radio signal of each matched filter determining respective component of object-scattering polarization matrix are measured, and total measurement result obtained determines measured value of object-scattering polarization matrix. EFFECT: enhanced precision and reduced time taken to measure object- scattering polarization matrix. 2 cl, 1 dwg
