MUFFLER-SOOT PRECIPITATOR Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in exhaust systems of internal combustion engines to reduce content of toxic substances in exhaust gases. Proposed muffler-soot precipitator has housing with end face walls, intake and outlet branch pipes and filter. Intake branch pipe is coaxial relative to end face wall. Housing is divided into first and second chambers by means of cross partition made in form of truncated cone. Intake branch pipe is made in form of longitudinal cut placed in zone of first chamber and pointed to side opposite to outlet branch pipe which is installed on side surface of housing in zone of first chamber. Larger base of cross partition cone is pointed to intake branch pipe. Muffler-soot precipitator is furnished with additional filter made of capron gauze packed with grease and installed in middle part of second chamber of muffler-soot precipitator. EFFECT: improved efficiency of cleaning of engine exhaust gases, facilitated servicing and increased service life of muffler-soot precipitator. 1 dwg
