FIELD: ac-to-dc energy converters; battery charging with direct or varying-with-time current. SUBSTANCE: desired charging-current is generated by ac capacitors 6 and 6.1 through 6N. Charging current of storage battery 10 is varied by connecting different number of second capacitors 6.1 through 6N in parallel with first capacitor 5. Their connection is effected by means of switches 8.1 through 8N handled by control circuit 9. Proposed device is characterized in simplified design, enhanced reliability, reduced power dissipation.
