FIELD: steelmaking. SUBSTANCE: invention provides composition of steel used in mechanical engineering when manufacturing slider bearings, bushings, and other parts operated under heavy-duty sliding friction conditions, greasing deficiency conditions, and at heating and in corrosive medium. Steel is composed of, wt %: carbon 0.05- 0.15, silicon 3.0-5.0, manganese 17-23, chromium 14-18, nitrogen 0.18-0.30, molybdenum 0.05-0.20, vanadium 0.05-0.10, titanium 0.01-0.10, copper 0.25-0.50, nickel 0.25-3.0, and iron - the balance. EFFECT: reduced coefficient of friction and wear intensity. 4 tbl
