FIELD: rolling process; hot and cold rolling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys, as well as nonmetallic materials. SUBSTANCE: stand of rolls includes housing made from non-magnetic material, working and hold-down rolls and electromagnet system; rolls are movable in vertical plane; electromagnetic system is made in form of at least one pair of E-shaped cores with coils embracing inner poles of said cores; located between poles of E-shaped cores are working and hold-down rolls; E-shaped cores are mounted symmetrically relative to plane of rolling; poles of E-shaped cores embrace rolls below their diametrical planes parallel to rolling planes; inner poles embrace working rolls and outer poles embrace hold-down rolls. Hold-down device of stand of rolls has hydraulic pressure unit consisting of movable and non-movable parts equipped with electromagnetic systems for their interaction.
