FIELD: examination of materials by radiation methods. SUBSTANCE: given device has optical radiation detector, optical beam focusing and collimation system comprising optical lenses and diaphragm and screen-converter that transforms neutron flux to optical radiation. Screen-converter comes in the form of figure of revolution with axis passing through center of neutron source and outer surface of special form. Optical lenses and diaphragm are placed on one axis with screen-converter between neutron source and optical radiation detector. Figure of revolution can be hollow figure with walls made of any clear material with thickness determined by its strength ( about 1.0 mm ). Internal space of figure is filled with hydrogen carrying liquid, for instance tributylphosphate, which composition is supplemented with ions of gadolinium and europium. EFFECT: raised efficiency of screen, diminished effect of scattered radiation and limits on thickness and diameter of screen. 2 cl, 3 dwg
