FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: neutron radiography apparatus includes a penetrating radiation source, a system for moving the object relative the radiation source, a unit for generating radiation flux towards the analysed object, a system for obtaining images of the object from absorbed radiation. Said apparatus also includes linear neutron detectors mounted in parallel with each other on both sides of the illuminated object and a gamma-ray spectrometer, a circuit for time analysis of events detected in components of a position-sensitive alpha particle detector and in components of linear single-coordinate fast neutron detectors. Linear detectors placed in front of the illuminated object on the side of the source are shielded by corresponding shields, which contain hydrogen-containing substances, from neutrons of the source travelling straight, and the penetrating radiation source is in form of a neutron generator with a position-sensitive alpha particle detector.

EFFECT: wider field of use of application of radiographic determination of the internal structure and material composition of illuminated objects, high information value, reduced effect of scattered radiation and simple design of the measuring apparatus.
