FIELD: escalator engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design of steps for escalators and passenger conveyors. Proposed step has skeleton with side diaphragm, center sill, main and auxiliary wheels. According to invention, side diaphragms are provided with flanges for arrangement and fixed of center sill and are furnished with support surfaces for center sill which are similar in outline to external surface of center sill adjoining the support surfaces. Center sill is furnished with inner ribs and end face bushings with through holes for fastening axle-shafts of main wheels passed through said holes of ribs and bushings. Said holes of bushings and ribs are coaxial, their common axis being parallel to plane of outer surface of skeleton. EFFECT: increased strength and reduced weight of step. 18 cl, 8 dwg
