METHOD FOR PROTECTING MYOCARDIUM IN REPERFUSION PERIOD Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2209602 C2

FIELD: medicine, cardiosurgery. SUBSTANCE: the suggested method deals with aortocoronary shunting in treating patients with ischemic cardiac disease, and in case of other cardiac operations at prolonged terms of aortic pinching. The method is fulfilled due to perfusion of coronary vessels with blood solution and additional successive 3-min-long perfusion with hyper- and then normopotassium solutions. Moreover, it is necessary to divide systemic and coronary bloodstreams by creating perfusion pressure of 40-50 mm mercury column and keeping the pressure of systemic bloodstream at the level of 80-100 mm mercury column. The suggested method leads to decreased reperfusion lesions due to keeping spare pressure in coronary rout and increasing tonicity of coronary vessels without any decrease of brain perfusion under conditions of prolonged cardiac asystolia in case of normothermia.
