FIELD: waste disposal. SUBSTANCE: domestic waste is sorted to separate waste of nonresidential sector from that of residential sector to give nonmetallic and metallic valuable components and tailing garbage subjected to heat treatment. From residential sector waste, ferrous and nonferrous metals are recovered as well as (i) biodegradable fraction -60 to -100 mm subjected to biothermal treatment to give fermentation product and (ii) combustible fraction in the form of textile and paper garbage +60 to +100 mm in size. The latter is subjected to heat treatment together with tailing garbage of nonresidential sector.
