FIELD: rolled stock production, namely rolling merchant bars of uranium. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of selecting rolling temperature; heating ingots until selected temperature; rolling them; quenching rolled pieces in water; calculating control factors for each selected temperature depending upon characteristics of ingots, equipment state at time of heating and taking into account non-uniformness of ingot heating along length by means of resolver at using equation of mathematical model such as T = α0+α1l+α2l2+α3l3+α4l4, where T - rolling temperature, C; l - coordinate of ingot portion for which temperature is determined; α0 - free term of polynom; α1...α4 - coefficients of polynom being functions of heating factors and of factors characterizing ingot and state of equipment for heating. Values of said coefficients α0...α4 are determined according to relations , where x1...x3 - controlled factors of heating; x1 -energy quantity for main heating, kWt/h; x2 - time period of soaking, s; x3 - time period for preheating, s; x4...x8 - factors characterizing ingot and heating equipment; x11 - length of feeder head portion of ingot relative to its maximum length; x5 -ingot mass,kg; x6 - number of ingot after idle period of heating equipment; x7 - time period of intrashift or intershift idling of heating equipment, h; x8 - quantity of ingots rolled after last trimming of heating equipment, pieces.
