FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: process involves chemical interaction of aqueous iodine suspension with potassium hydroperoxide until iodide concentration 400-600 g/l in reaction milieu is obtained. Reaction milieu is the subjected to two-step concentration. In the first step, mixture is evaporated to 900-950 g/l iodide ion concentration, after which dissolved impurities are isolated from reaction milieu. In the second step, reaction milieu is evaporated to 2000-2500 g/l iodide ion concentration enabling crystallization of desired product. EFFECT: increased yield of potassium iodide in shortened production cycle and reduced power and labor consumption. 2 cl
