FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method of isolation of iodine from natural iodine-containing solution involves formation of elemental iodine in iodine-containing solution, desorption of elemental iodine from solution with air to form iodine-air mixture, sorption of elemental iodine from iodine-air mixture by addition sulfurous acid to reaction mass. Reduced iodine in the form of hydriodic acid is absorbed on sorbent with acidity value 400-500 mg-equiv./l. Isolation of the end product from hydriodic acid is carried out by its crystallization in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. Iodine preparation comprises the following components, wt.-%: iodine obtained by indicated method, 85-90, not less; halides, 0.015, not less; sulfates, 0.04, not above; nonvolatile residue, 0.2, not above. Moisture content of preparation is 10-15%, not above. Method provides simplification of technological process and preparing iodine preparation of the required quality. EFFECT: improved method of preparing. 2 cl
