FIELD: instrumentation engineering, design of gyrocompasses and navigation aids. SUBSTANCE: gyroscope is so mounted in advance on platform free in azimuth and stabilized in plane of local horizon that measurement axis of second channel of gyroscope coincides with one of horizontal axes of platform and measurement axis of first channel of gyroscope matches another horizontal axis of platform. Axis of own rotation of gyroscope coincides with vertical axis of platform. Later angle of true course of one of horizontal axes of platform is computed during gyrocompassing with the use of analytical expression with utilization of information on voltages from reference resistors of gyrocompass and its drift.
