FIELD: fire-fighting, particularly for complicated processing installations. SUBSTANCE: method involves pulsed delivering of extinguishing substance to fire seat while single-phase liquid is alternated with propellant gas. Fire extinguishing apparatus includes fire alarm transmitter unit, controller, at least two cylinders with shutoff valves connected to manifold having sprayers through lines with filling pipes. Fire extinguishing apparatus additionally has two movable partitions mounted between shutoff valves of first and second cylinders by diaphragms installed in first and second lines. Third diaphragm is mounted in first line in front of independent manifold line. Pressure sensor is installed in first line and connected with second controller input. First controller input is connected with fire alarm transmitter unit output. First controller output serves as shutoff valve control input of first cylinder filled with propellant gas. Second controller output is connected with shutoff valve control inputs of cylinder filled with fire-extinguishing substance and with additional third shutoff valve controlling input between first and second lines filled with fire extinguishing substance. Trapping pocket is installed at one end of first line. At least one of cylinders is overturned. Liquid component of fire extinguishing substance is in cylinder lower part connected with shutoff valve; propellant gas is in its upper part. EFFECT: increased efficiency of explosion suppression, fire extinguishing, fast-action by reduced time of delivering of fire extinguishing substance to fire seat. 3 cl, 3 dwg
